Diagnosis: Placenta Previa Pathophysiology
Placenta Previa is an Obstetric condition in which the placenta implants close to or hideing the cervical os. A normal placenta implants in the stop number uterine section. In placenta Previa the placenta implants in the lower part of the uterus. As the pregnancy progresses, the blood vessels in the placenta that cover the cervix rupture. This commonly causes painless, bright red vaginal eject after 20 weeks.
The exact cause is unknown. It is thought that any condition that has caused scarring or damage to the uterus increases the chances such as: elective abortions, multiplies, advance maternal age over the age of 35, previous caesarean delivery birth, prior Previa. This condition is seen approximately 5 in every 1,000 deliveries.
Previa is classified into 3 classifications according to the covering of the cervix. Total placenta Previa occurs when the cervix is completely covered. If the placenta covers part of the cervix, it is called partial Previa. sometimes the placenta doesnt cover the cervix, but is located on the border of the cervix, this is called marginal placenta Previa. Sometimes a marginal or partial Previa diagnosed in wee pregnancy becomes normal implantation as the uterus grows.



However, a complete placenta diagnosed in the second trimester rarely becomes normal, resulting in a cesarean delivery.
