Chapter 1
Tone/ automated teller: Normal kid, calm tone, almost as if the story could take place today. Chapter starts off with him missing take to see his dumbfound sent to a labor camp. by and by his father gets deported, he hopes that the rest of the day will be normal.
Symbols/Ideas: The idea of Judaism. Uncle Lajos (tries to) force Georg into praying for his father, telling him that hes start of a Jewish fabric, and how we atomic number 18 now appeasing G-d for preceding(a) sins. Also, half the family is eating pork, while the separate half is non eating it- goes against their sect of religion. Georg doesnt identify with Judaism as a religion, proven by the fact he hides his Jewish star.

Chapter 2
Tone/ atm: again, very passive, calm, almost as if he just goes with the flow. He is almost naïve to the situation. He is happy about cultivate finish and also , as if it doesnt matter, there are new laws about Jews.



The big concept in this chapter is family problems and Georgs problems with his friend, Annamarie
Symbols/Ideas: The Yellow Star- Annamaries sister is concerned that people are giving her strange looks because she is Jewish. Georg tries to explain to her that she should not take it personally, rather people hate the idea of being Jewish. Georg further explains that the differences from other people are why people hate us. Georg hence tells her a story how a prince and a beggar couldve been switched from birth, and secret code would actually know which one is which. By the Jews , it just happens to be us, but it couldve been anyone. Both of them come to the realization that being scorned makes no sense.
