Art is one of the most dynamic forms of self-expression. In the verse form aunty Jennifers Tigers by Adrienne Rich, a woman is pin down in a broken marriage and tries to escape it done and through her artwork. However, it is made difficult by an abusive economise. It seems as though the woman is so tortured, that nothing can save her from the nightmare that is her marriage. The author shows that aunt Jennifer wishes to live similarly to the tigers in her artwork.
In the first stanza, Rich shows that the tigers are a representation of how auntie Jennifer wants to live her life. In a way, she is trying to show her curse through the needlework, and is creating a picture of how she wishes her life could be. Rich says They do not fear the men beneath the tree, which content that the tigers are a symbol for strength and fearlessness (3). This is how auntie Jennifer wishes she could live her life, strong and unafraid of her maintain. However, she lacks these very qualities and therefore has to utilize to creating a world in her artwork where she can be free from her husband, and live fearlessly as the tigers do.
In the twinkling stanza, Rich shows that Aunt Jennifer finds it too difficult to distance herself from her husband and her marriage through her artwork.

Her husband is essentially her master, and it is almost as if she is his prisoner and is under his complete control. Her terrified hands show that her husband tortures her, and that the weight is not so much the wedding sidestep itself, but the anguish that has resulted from her accepting the ring from him (8, 9).
