Leonardo da Vinci was natural on April 15,1452, in Vinci, Italy. He was the son of a besotted Florentine notary and a peasant woman. Leonardo lived with his gramps until he was five years old. His fathers name was Ser Piero and his fetch was named Caterina. Leonardos mother and father were not actually matrimonial, so his father married another woman named Albiera di Giovanni Amadori. In his early teens, Leonardos family settled in Florence. Once they settled in Florence, Leonardo was provided the best gentility Florence could offer. In 1466, he was apprenticed to Andrea del Verrocchio, the leading painter and sculpturer during that time. While there, Leonardo was introduced to many activities, from the painting of altarpieces to sculpting.

By the time he was fifteen, he mastered the technical and mechanical skills in painting and sculpting. In 1472, Leonardo was accepted into the painters guild in Florence, Italy. This is what started his successful artistic career.
