BASSERI
Introduction
The Basseri are a tribe of 15000-20000 pastoral nomads divided residentially into c amperes of ten to fifteen tents who migrate between winter pastures in the steppes and deserts (Jeanne Guillemin, 1981). They live in the Iranian province of Fars. Pastoralist is their capital mode of subsistence. This lifestyle affects their social, political and economic organization, as it excessively controls their values, beliefs, and the social change that occur in their life. According to Nowak, B. & Laird, P.(2010) pastoralism is a subsistence strategy involved in herding animals such as, sheep, goats, camels, alpaca, reindeer and cattle( intro, Para. 1). The main purpose of this paper will be focusing on the primary mode of subsistence of the Basseri culture of Iran and portray how it affects their beliefs and values, the sickness and the healing method and their social organization.
