Fathers Presence: What be their effects?

For many centuries there has been much speculation on the role of fathers in the upbringing of their children, and their affects. There comport also been several questions that put up arisen on the subject. Are fathers essential in the rearing of children? As one author puts it, Fathers…take us by the hand, go past us into the outside world, and shape the way in which we continue it.(Thomas) On the other hand, many people believe the precise opposite. Researchers have said, We do not believe that the researched data supports the closing that fathers are essential to child well-being.(Silverstein and Auerbach) The two articles that I have had the chance to study, research this topic and give very disparate viewpoints. One, based on their own experiences, and those of close friends. The other does immense research, and thus, forms an opposing conclusion as to why fathers are not essential.
The first editorial that I reviewed was titled, Fathers Are Essential. The life experiences extol the editorial written by David Thomas. According to David, his viewpoint is that fathers are indispensable in the raising of children.



He describes how his fathers insistence on personal responsibility, and respect for women shaped his pot of effective fatherhood. He also contends that society holds little admiration for fathers, but argues that people should recognize the important contribution that true fathers make to their children. In the editorial he goes into detail near what he feels are good dads, and how children with loving fathers outperform children without fathers. His claims are that children with loving fathers, who are an active part of their lives, will mechanically have better exam grades than a child without. He claims that it is in fact mothers who physically give life, nurture us and even shape our basic emotions.
